12 May 2009 - Cash Back for Christie Petition
Tony Lloyd joined other Manchester MPs, campaigners and supporters to deliver the Cash Back for Christie petition to 10 Downing Street on 8 May 2009. Helen Ferns, the hospital's head research nurse, handed over the 100,000-plus signatures to the prime minister's officials.
Tony said, "The real congratulations should go to the 100,000 people who have signed the petition, and the organisers who have made this possible.
"This does show the real strength of feeling around this issue, and the proper regard that people have for the Christie."

08 May 2009 - Tony part of group of MPs to lobby PM on Gaza
Prime Minister Gordon Brown was lobbied on the aftermath of the Gaza conflict today by a deputation of MPs from Labour Friends of Palestine & the Middle East. The organisation was launched in January during the Gaza conflict and already has 98 supporters.
The deputation included Communities minister Sadiq Khan and (left to right in picture) MPs Karen Buck, Andrew Slaughter, Christine Russell, Phyllis Starkey, Martin Linton, Richard Burden and Tony Lloyd.
Battersea MP Martin Linton pressed the Prime Minister in the House of Commons last week for an independent inquiry into war crimes allegations during the Gaza conflict.
"There will be no peace in the Middle East if the parties to the conflict feel they can violate international humanitarian law and commit war crimes with impunity."
